Class
These are not secretagogues and not hormones. They are pieces: a C-terminal fragment of human growth hormone, and a pegylated form of a splice variant of insulin-like growth factor 1 that muscle expresses after loading. Each was isolated on the hypothesis that one useful action of a large protein could be separated from the rest of it.
The class is the index's clearest demonstration that a regulatory record and an evidence record are different things. Both members have been named in FDA documents, one of them voted on by an advisory committee. Neither has a published human trial of the marketed compound.
