The answer
Twelve of the 35 molecules this index tracks are named on the 2026 Prohibited List, and the other 23 are not named — which is not the same as permitted, because every relevant section is expressly non-exhaustive and S0 prohibits any substance with no current regulatory approval for human therapeutic use.
A compound's position under United States compounding law and its position in sport are decided by different bodies reading different documents for different purposes, and neither answer predicts the other. A substance can be lawful for a pharmacy to compound and prohibited in competition; it can be prohibited in competition and have no lawful route anywhere. This table exists because readers arrive assuming one answer covers both.
The rows below were produced by searching the full text of the current Prohibited List for every molecule in this index, under the name variants printed beside each row. Where the document names a substance, the row quotes the line that names it and gives the section. Where it does not, the row says the document does not name it and says what that does and does not mean.
Denominator
Every row was produced on 2026-09-02 by searching the full text of the World Anti-Doping Code International Standard Prohibited List effective from 1 January 2026, fetched from the World Anti-Doping Agency and converted to text. The search instrument was proved in the same run: the control term "meldonium", which the document contains, was found, and the invented term "zzqxfakesubstance" was not. A row reading that the List does not name a substance is a statement about the document under the variants printed in that row, and nothing more. It is not a statement that the substance is permitted in sport: the relevant sections are expressly non-exhaustive, and section S0 prohibits any pharmacological substance with no current approval by any governmental regulatory health authority for human therapeutic use. Matches falling on a section heading rather than on a substance entry are recorded by the script as class descriptions and are never counted here as a naming; ARA-290 is the case that produced that rule.

Three readings of this table are wrong. The first is that a molecule absent from the List is allowed in sport: section S0 prohibits any substance with no current regulatory approval for human therapeutic use, which covers most of this index by description without naming anything. The second is that being named makes a substance unlawful to possess — the Prohibited List governs eligibility to compete, not the drug law that the rest of this site tracks. The third is that the two records move together, and they do not: the List is revised annually on its own schedule.
The clearest illustration is ARA-290, which the List does not name anywhere while prohibiting innate repair receptor agonists as a class by example. A search finds nothing and the substance is very likely covered; that gap between a name search and a class description is why every unnamed row here carries its caveat rather than a blank.
